Hi Nils,

REGISTER sip:ss2.biloxi.com SIP/2.0
   Via: SIP/2.0/UDP client.biloxi.com:5060;branch=z9hG4bKnashds7
   Max-Forwards: 70
   From: LittleGuy <sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>;tag=a73kszlfl
   To: LittleGuy <sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
   Call-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
   CSeq: 1 REGISTER
   Contact: <sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
   Content-Length: 0

As u can see above, even REGISTER has SIP URI in form of sip:domain-name or
sip:ip-address.

With OPTIONS the SIP URI is in the form as shown...as mentioned in the
RFC3261.

OPTIONS sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED] SIP/2.0
      Via: SIP/2.0/UDP pc33.atlanta.com;branch=z9hG4bKhjhs8ass877
      Max-Forwards: 70
      To: <sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
      From: Alice <sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>;tag=1928301774
      Call-ID: a84b4c76e66710
      CSeq: 63104 OPTIONS
      Contact: <sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
      Accept: application/sdp
      Content-Length: 0

But in case of an INVITE, it depends on the configuration of the proxy
whether to forward this to the Helpdesk/Reception(if configured) or to
reject it.
If not configured, proxy in this case can respond back with 400,404,416 or
even 484.

Let me know what u think on this.

Regards,
Atul

Hi Atul,

it should not do so, if the URI is the request URI of an OPTIONS request.
Because that should be answered by the proxy. And to direct such a request
to
a proxy you have to use a SIP URI in form of sip:domain-name or
sip:ip-address.
