Dear SIP Gurus,

I was wonder if anyone might have some guidance and/or references for
developing a fault tolerant UA that could handle a failover from one
server to another in the middle of an existing dialog.

I'm planning on using UDP as transport so there are no connection
issues to worry about. As long as I've captured sufficient state
information to uniquely identify the dialog (from tag, to tag and call
id) it seems like I should be able to reconstitute it on another machine
under a new UA. My biggest unknown is if changing the IP address that a
new request originates from for an existing dialog will cause the remote
side any problems. Also, can I use a re-INVITE to modify the Contact
header to make sure subsequent requests from the other side go to the
right address?

TIA,

Doug Martin
