Hi Shivam ,
maddr is used for SIP multicasting. In some rfc 2543 implementations it had
been used to force an alternative route to the the one specified in R-URI,
however , this is discouraged by the 3261 spec and the loose-routing
mechanism is provided instead.
Please refer to sections 18.1.1 and 18.2.2 of RFC 3261 ..
also these two threads may prove useful

maddr is listed as an optional parameter to contact , but i am not sure
about the scenarios wherein an UAC might like to be contacted at a multicast
address , and what implementation issues may arise out of it.
Would be interested if some body can throw some light on it :)

Cheers ,
Sayan

Subject: [Sip-implementors] maddr parameter

Hi all,
I would like to know what does "maddr" parameter signifies ? When used in
the Contact header ,what does it signify?
Thanx in advance.

Warm Regards
Shivam
