Billy,

Can you explain exactly what you are trying to do?
I don't know much about MMS, but I guess it is a multimedia version of SMS. In that regard I guess it is roughly just an IM message containing more than just text.

The simple answer for you is that SIMPLE, which is an extension to SIP for IM and Presence has two approaches to IM, either of which might provide what you are seeking. These are two modes - page mode and session mode.

Page mode is accomplished using the MESSAGE message. You can include content of most any type you like, using MIME encoding. It is limited in that there are no sessions, and that using it for large payloads is not permitted with SIP over UDP, and is not encouraged even for SIP over TCP.

Session mode is more like voice. For voice, SIP is used to establish an RTP session. For SIMPLE session mode IM, SIP is used to establish a session with the MSRP protocol. Then IM messages are sent over MSRP. This work is not yet finished - MSRP is still under development, but after a couple of years of struggle is starting to look baked.

Does that help?

Hey All!

I am interested in using SIP and RTP stacks to send MMS messages. What is not clear is how to establish an RTP session
once the SIP connection negogiations have successfully completed.

Can I buy a vowel? :-)

Thanks in Advance for your help.
