Hi All,
The protocols like H.248 were developed with 'voice
and telephony' being the basic target services unlike
SIP and that might be the reason that H.248 has
specific packages dedicated for services such as
'generic announcements, line tests, enhanced alerting,
tone detection, enhanced analog etc.
I do find some SIP drafts here and there detailing
such services, but is there a dedicated SIP group
working on this or standards published for providing
these services using SIP ?
The focus is to see how a residential gateway like
equipment use SIP for these services and eliminate
need for a 5ESS.
