SDP included in an OPTIONS is NOT an offer. (A wise UA would probably not put valid IP addresses into it.) Its only to give an indication of what capabilities the UA might choose to include in an offer or accept in an answer.

Hi,

Since SDP can be included in an OPTIONS message. I wanted to make sure that I
did not miss any reference which indicates that a new offer could be included
in an OPTIONS message.

Subject: RE: [Sip-implementors] question on sending SDP offer in OPTIONS

From: Chitre Monica-E50155

There is no mention of sending an offer in OPTIONS and

receiving the
answer in the 200 OK. So is this valid? Or can OPTIONS

only be used
to query capabilities?

Given that sending an offer in OPTIONS is mentioned in no RFC, why would one think that it was valid to do so? Are there UAs that do this?
