Subject: [Sip-implementors] What is the use of via header.

Hi all...

I have some basic question on sip.

1) what is the use of VIA header field?
>>> Via header is basically used to publish the trasport address where the requesting entity is expecting response. However, some parameters in the header can be used for other purposes too, like branch paramter is used for identification of responses for forked requests.
2) how is loop is detected by proxy?
>>> Proxy uses the counter in the Max-Forewards header to detect that the message recieved is the same as originated.

thanks in advance

Regards
Manju
