I think address book application can be HTTP based. You may want to look at SyncML and OMA-DS Enabler specs.

Hello, I was wondering whether SIP has some extension using which address book can be stored and retrieved from a server. This would be quite useful when mobility is in picture. With this a user can be mobile but still carry his address book anywhere he goes. It will be helpful if someone can point me to the extension in SIP that can be used for this purpose?
