Hi,
AFAIK, Timer is J is used for Non-Invite Transaction. In Non-Invite
transaction Timer J is started when the Server transaction reaches the
completed state and it is used for the retransmission of Final response
at Server transaction (when transport is Unreliable). When the Timer J
fires server transaction switches to terminated state.

Subject: [Sip-implementors] timer in server UA after BYE

Hello all

 I have a question about the timers in the following situation

 Client
Server
 -------------------------->     INVITE
------------------------------>
 <------------------------       100 Trying
<------------------------------
 <------------------------       180 ringing
<-------------------------------
 -------------------------->     Cancel/Bye
-------------------------------->
 <-------------------------      200 OK
<-------------------------------

 After sending the 200 OK, does the server start a timer (Timer J). If
yes, why is that so. What is the server waiting for ? I see this
behaviour in a user agent.

 Thanks

 Neeraj
