Call hold is currently done with a=sendonly
and the receiving party will send a=recvonly. I don't think there is a time limit or anyone prefers that. Since after the timeout if the call continues, it affects one's privacy. If you drop the call, there is a chance for misunderstanding that one dropped the call and you will receive a call again. Leaving it to the human decision is the best optimal way i guess.
