Hi,
Please check out RFC 3323, 3324 and 3325. The privacy setting for a
user indicates whether information about the caller should be revealed. This
information could be present in many headers. There are different types of
privacy levels to handle removing of identity-revealing information from the
SIP message. You can go through RFC 3323 for more information.
As far as P-A-I header is concerned, the callers identity is
present in this header. When the caller has a privacy setting (id type), he
mentions whether his identity should be revealed or not. You can go through
RFC 3325 for more information on this. The From header will be anonymous
(not contain the callers identity) and the P-A-I header will contain the
callers identity.
There is a concept of a trust network where in hops within this
network can be trusted. If privacy is desired, when the SIP message is sent
outside this network the P-A-I header is stripped off from the message
thereby not releiving the identity to untrusted elements. You can go through
RFC 3324 for more information on it.
Regards
Nisha
