*69 kind of feature was useful in the POTS phones in which you do not have a display. Phones with display (mobile, IP phone, soft phone) you may as well see the missed call information. Well, assuming that the User Agent is an Analog Telephony Adapter, even then I don't understand why the behavior is expected from the Proxy. User Agent itself can keep track of where the last call came from, and simply when the user presses *69, the User Agent software can translate it back to the received call. SIP expects you to have Intelligent Peripherals, less intelligence in the network.
