   Iam not sure what is the usecase of your testing.
Generally you can configure asterisk server for getting notified about
voice mail notification for the registered clients .( Asterisk Server is
supposed to send NOTIFY with "message-summary" in this case).Iam not
sure about the need for client to  send NOTIFY ?

i am using my own client and asterisk server.i am not supposed to change
the server.i can change the NOTIFY packet.is there any problem by
putting "message-summary" in my EVENT header? Does asterisk support this
event?
