Its a little hard to tell how much reading you have already done. I'm
guessing maybe just 3261?
There are a lot of other related RFCs that speak to this. You might want
to start with
draft-ietf-sip-hitchhikers-guide-05
Also RFC 5057 speaks to dialogs explicitly.
