Hi All ,
Can any one explain which SIP header could be a better option for
sending Caller-ID information .

We have a SIP-GSM gateway on which we would like to send the Caller-ID
information consisting of GSM Mobile Number (Remote Caller ) on to the
SIP Callee side .

I have googled and found that one of the following can be used for sending
Caller ID .
1) In from header Display name Field.(e.g.
From:"displayname"<sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>)
2) In p-asserted Identity header
3) In Remote-Party-ID header

Checking through Forums, they say that Remote-party-is not a standard
anymore and its been replaced by P-Asserted-header .

Also in the RFC 3325 it has been said that
"Typically, a user agent renders the value of a P-Asserted-Identity
header field that it receives to its user.It may consider the
identity provided by a Trust Domain to be privileged, or
intrinsically more trustworthy than the From header field of a
request"

So have considered using p-asserted Identity header for sending the Remote
Caller information as a tel URI (instead of sending in from header display
name which is vague in giving info to callee".)
Would like to know whether p-asserted identity header is a better option
for sending Caller-ID information ?

Going through I have seen some other headers are also coming into picture
like privacy header .Also I would like the know the behaviour of proxy and
UAS on Caller-ID information send by UAC in the p-asserted Identity
Header , the points to note for interoperability with different proxies and
User Agents while setting the p-asserted identity header in the SIP
request/Response .

Kind Regards,
Vamshi
