Greetings, RFC 3842 briefly discusses both request-uri and To. However I'm not sure how to interpret meaning of request-uri as it relates to the To header.
The examples reflect the request-uri being the account (i.e. subscribe's request-uri is same as notify's message-account); however the notify's body also has the To's reflecting subscribe's request-uri and To. Similarly section 3.5 also indicates that the To might be important. RFC 3842 section 2: "A SIP User Agent MAY subscribe to multiple accounts (distinguished by the Request URI)." RFC 3842 section 3.5: "If the Request-URI or To header in a message-summary subscription corresponds to a group or collection of individual messaging accounts, the notifier MUST specify to which account the message-summary body corresponds." My specific questions are how to interpret the following upon receipt of SUBSCRIBE at example.com (notifier) where user1, group1, and known-user are known and unknown-user is unknown at example.com. 1) To: [email protected] and request-uri is example.com? 2) To: example.com and request-uri is [email protected]? 3) To: [email protected] and request-uri is [email protected]? 4) To: [email protected] and request-uri is [email protected]? 5) To: [email protected] and request-uri is [email protected]? 6) To: [email protected] and request-uri is [email protected]?
