[Resending to the correct sip-implementors mailing list]
Though the PIDF-LO format allows one to convey multiple alternate locations,
I am wondering if there are any implementations using multiple PIDF-LO
documents. The following are use cases where I think it may be required to
signal multiple locations with several PIDF-LO documents:
1. When a call is redirected/transferred one or more times, it might be
required to signal the location of the redirecting/transferring devices
using one or more PIDF-LO XML documents, similar to Redirecting Number or
Diversion/History-Info header.
2. When a call goes through one or more proxy/B2BUA, each proxy/B2BUA may
want to insert its location information to the message, so that the
endpoints know the locations the message traversed.
RFC 5491 says the following about multiple PIDF documents:
Rule #9: Where multiple PIDF documents can be sent or received
together, say in a multi-part MIME body, and current location
information is required by the recipient, then document selection
SHOULD be based on document order, with the first document
considered first.
Are there any implementations using it?
thanks,
Muthu
