The registration request registers the AoR and associated contact URIs and does not deal with media information. So there is no need to include SDP as part of REGISTER. But if you want to register certain preferences like caller or callee preferences like indicating whether UA is focus aware, these could be done using procedures defined in RFC 3840 / RFC 3841.
