It is an infamous problem with SIP that a UAC cannot determine whether early media is arriving from any of the UASs -- UASs are not required to send any signaling before sending early media.
However, it has recently come to my attention that almost all UAs follow a much more forgiving convention: They send a 183 with SDP before sending early media. What I would like to know is how universal this convention is. If all UAs in practice follow this rule, a number of difficult situations in SIP can be handled more easily.
