I haven't reviewed your traces (and only was vaguely following this
thread), but I'll note that just because something works with a server
or client doesn't mean it's right.  UA's often (usually) will accept
non-compliant requests and sequences; the result however may vary - for
example, if a header or parameter appears twice (and is only officially
allowed to appear once), it might take the first, the last, or both - or
reject it.

This is largely a consequence of "be liberal in what you accept, and
strict in what you send", and that the spec generally doesn't mandate
specific rejections of malformed requests.
