All, If we allow the earlier mentioned SDP to be acceptable, then following SDP must also be considered acceptable. Then there could be chaos / deadlocks.....
a=rtpmap:0 PCMU/8000/1 a=rtpmap:8 PCMA/8000/1 *a=recvonly* a=ptime:20 *a=sendonly* The sender might assume *a=recvonly* is considered. At same time receiver might consider *a=sendonly* attribute (from sender). Hence both sender and receiver are in "recvonly" mode. Hence neither can send data and lead to deadlock. Thus safest option is not allow this attribute to appear in the SDP. Straightaway reject the call request with 488 response code.
