well, it's actually from rfc4474 "SIP Identity".

Well, this draft spec is being concocted in the context of the SIP WG, and so I am trying to have the terminology be as SIP-driven as possible.

We can note, though, in the terminology section, that "AS" is "app server" in the IMS world in order to try to head off confusion.
