A TEL URI encodes a user identity that is a telephone number. A SIP URI encodes a user identity that may be a telephone number, may just look like a telephone number, or might be something else entirely. In theory, tel provides a preferred encoding for telephone numbers. In practice, almost nothing uses it. We've been debating recommendations along this divide steadily for the last few weeks. -- Dean _______________________________________________ Sip mailing list https://www.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/sip This list is for NEW development of the core SIP Protocol Use [EMAIL PROTECTED] for questions on current sip Use [EMAIL PROTECTED] for new developments on the application of sip
