I believe CPU CONGESTED means that the triggered actions are using too much time relative to the polling loop. Probably not much you can do about it. In my local version I have changed the inner pool loop to a switch which helps a little but you would probably have to attack the Call-ID map to get greater efficiency.

One thing to watch if the UAS is using excessive time is that calls are not getting hung. For example the UAC times out a BYE and that “call” is still in the tables at the UAS – that can result in the call still being active at the UAS. I have seen cases with 50K calls at the UAC and 250K calls at the UAS. The UAS is still scanning all the 250K calls in its tables.

There was nothing attached by me – I think Sourceforge adds them.

Hello,

Thanks for you answer but I can’t any solution to the “CPU CONGESTED” problem that I have, any idea?

I saw that you attached some files but I can’t get them because they were blocked, can you please zip them and send me again?

Thanks

One thing I find is that SIPP is essentially single threaded – so on a Dual Core (or Hyperthreaded) system you only really use one CPU, which is where I suspect your 50% comes from. We would normally run UAS and UAC on a single system – which uses both CPUs.

Then to scale use multiple systems – emulating multiple destinations of course – it depends on exactly what you are trying to test.

Subject: [Sipp-users] Performance tips

Hi, fellow sipp users.

I've been testing with sipp for some time now and I would like to know what
are there some kind of tricks to make it perform better on my system. I've
read the manual and I know about the -timer_resol, -max_recv_loops and
-up_nb commands. I have tried different variations, like decreasing the
max_recv_loops value and increasing the up_nb value, but I don't seem to
gain much performance with that. Especially I have problems with the UAS
scenario, that shows CPU congested basically all the time. I'm using two
P4's with 3,6GHz CPU and 2GB of DDR2 RAM. Other one is running the UAC and
other the UAS scenario. I'm getting about 3000 calls/second, connecting
 directly between two sipps.

UAS scenario is bugging me since it shows CPU congested and the CPU load is
somewhere around 50%. Could someone give me a hint on what values of
-timer_resol, -max_recv_loops and -up_nb I could try on my system? What kind
of values are you getting and with what kind of systems?

 Regards,
