Olivier, Clarification
I was looking for the supporting documentation .... could not find it but I believe NetEm only works on packets entering the port. Observation with SIPp and Impairments Triggering re-transmits due to NetEm or other reasons for packet loss significantly impact the performance characteristics of SIPp. Olivier may be able to shed some light on why but this is an observation made when performing tests. IPv6 on your Linux box with NetEm and SIPp is another combination that significantly impacts performance. When using NetEm and SIPp you may want to consider using port filtering so other function in your Linux box are not impacted. The are a number of articles comparing NistNet and NetEm but one key item is NistNet acts a as router for impairments. NetEm is a bridge and does not do any routing. If NetEm and SIPp are to co-exist in the same box the bridge requires an IP address otherwise it will simple route packets out the system. Suggested Implementations would be to keep your NetEm and SIPp in separate boxes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
