Did you add the / which was missing in your path, as Charles suggested to you ?

but my problem is trigged by this instruction:

 echo "*" >dev/udp/localhost/port

because Ubuntu doesn't allow to acces at dev/udp .
I cannot find the /dev/udp folder at all.
Is there any other way in which I can control the sipp operation at runtime 
remotely?
