Hi Reed,
the "problem" you describe is related to the very principle of how SIPp
works, so it is unlikely that any version would ever fix it. I've
written quite a lot about it here
<https://sourceforge.net/p/sipp/mailman/message/34707334/>, but
understanding why something happens doesn't help you solve your current
problem.
To suggest a workaround, I need to understand the overall behaviour you
need. Can you elaborate on the whole setup, in particular why do you
need the SIPp script to ever time out? Do you need several homeware
devices to register or just a single one? Do you plan to send something
to the homeware after it registers? A flow diagram (ladder diagram) of
the expected message exchange would help, see example below.
|-----REGISTER ---->| # if it does not come within 10 seconds, take
action xxx
<--200(REGISTER)---
(wait 200 ms)
<-----INVITE-------
...

Hi all,
I found <recv request="REGISTER" timeout="10000"> in my SIPp script
doesn't work, I did some research via google and knew "For the first
receive at the server, the session (i.e. call) does not exist until
the first message is received. Therefore per-call timeout will not
work there"
<http://sipp-users.narkive.com/0lzdUnek/help-ontimeout-is-not-working>, but
it's found in a quit old web page.
I'm using SIPp v3.5.1, can I resolve this problem with this version?
Can I set a timeout for the first <recv> message? I'm doing a test
with homeware device, my script need wait for homeware to register,
sometimes the device may have problem to boot up and SIPp will
wait...and never timeout :(
Appreciate every reply!
Thanks,
Reed
