I agree that this would be a common case. However, how about if you wanted to encode spaces in the user-name with % prefixed escape sequences. That could be confusing for the user. On the other hand it would be easy to encode these and construct a valid sip URI in code. Disclaimer : I am not a UI expert. Ranga -- M.
