The 'peer networking' features are used for two configuration scenarios,
both of which are large enterprise use cases, so a decision on whether
to add support for these use cases should be made based on the target
user of sipXecs.

Use case 1 (Daisy Chaining): Two SoundStation IP 7000s are
inter-connected to cover a large conference room by using speakers and
microphones from both units in concert.

Use Case 2 (HDX Video Integration): A SoundStation IP 7000 is used as
the audio and 'dial-pad' for an HDX video system. The phone would
suitable an ability to initiate a video call via the HDX and the video
infra-structure or an audio call through sipXecs. This capability has
not been formally released yet, but is scheduled to be released soon.

If either of these use cases is of interest to the sipXecs community I
can provide some more details on configuration needs.

Regards

Marek

Subject: Re: [sipX-dev] Peer Networking feature on Polycom SoundStation
IP7000

What does that mean with someone who has the model and the HDX video
conferencing system?

I would assume if they have HDX and sipxconfig, they might have to
re-configure the HDX areas from the WEBUI of the device manually
everytime they push out a change to the phone or will it not affect
anything they've done manually?

I am finishing up adding the new Polycom model support and have found
this feature called "Peer Networking":

Peer networking manages communications between Polycom devices. For the
SoundStation IP 7000 conference phone, it manages daisy-chaining and
video integation with the HDX video systems.

My gut tells me no, but do we need to add support for this feature in
sipXconfig?
