Before someone opens improvement request I just want to point out that sipXconfig already mostly does what Scott asks for here :-) Kevin implemented it some time ago when adding support for multiple voice mail systems. sipXconfig creates ~~vm~ aliases for all users with voicemail permission. The unfortunately abused "target permissions" are used just to direct ~~vm~. to a proper voicemail server. This solution has advantages over direct aliases: any component can direct call to a proper voicemail by calling ~~vm~user alias. But I have nothing against cleaning this up and using "capabilities" and not "permissions".
