Subject: [sipX-dev] Query regarding NTP Server -- Expected
behavior

        Hi,

Could anyone let me know the expected behavior for the following
scenario:

        1. Login as superadmin and add a LG 68xx phone to the Config UI
        2. Navigate to Devices-->Phones
        3. Go to the MAC Id of the phone and click on the Time link.
Note: The sntp_server_address parameter has a default value
pool.ntp.org
        4. Delete the sntp_server_address specified and Click Apply and
OK button.
        5. Send profiles to the phone.
        6. Go to the MAC Id of the phone and click on the Time link.
Note: The sntp_sever_address field is set to blank .
        7. Navigate to the Web UI of the phone (by logging into the IP
Address of the phone)--> Network Time Configuration
Note: The SNTP Server Address is set to blank
        6. When the phone comes up, though the NTP server address is set
to blank, the phone contacts the NTP server 212.13.194.71 and displays
the current date and time. Is this the right behavior?

Note: The phone has static IP.
        Also attached the packet capture.

The LG-Nortel 68xx seems to be assuming pool.ntp.org when you set
sntp_server_address to blank.

Not sure if this is design intent, or a bug.

Either way, it is not desirable behaviour. If you set this field to
blank, it is because you do not want the phone to use NTP. You should
raise an XTRN against the 68xx for this.

(Sorry for the very delayed response.)
