The most likely cause is that the realm specified by the phone in the 401 isn't the same as the realm configured in sipX, so the phone doesn't think it has credentials for that realm. Also, make sure that the sipX users have credentials for the specified realm -- look in the credentials.xml file. (That's one reason we ask people to take a full snapshot when they ask for help on a problem, rather than attaching the one file they think is relevant.)
