Or slightly simpler: switch between panels with 'time period' (which is
what we have today) and 'last x hours'. "last 3 hours" would be default.

I do not think that many people would leave snapshot page open for extended
period of times. But if you think it's going to be a problem let's do
something. This is the page that has to do the right thing in 99% of cases
when people click OK without any edits.
