+1
Though, let's restrict this only to the "Device Settings" that could
interfere with the phone's basic ability to get onto the network and
retrieve a profile.
This applies to the VLAN settings in XCF-3622, but also others in the
future (XCF-3598: configure DNS server when DHCP is not used)
The distinction is important because the recently added Syslog
parameters are also "Device Settings". The way things work today, a
sipXconfig profile will always overwrite the Syslog values on the
phone. I'm comfortable with that.
We need to be very careful though that a default sipXconfig profile does
not overwrite network settings that may have been a pre-requisite for
retrieving the profile in the first place. Otherwise a default profile
could leave a phone in an unusable state.
This approach meets that criteria.
"Overwrite" seems like a nice simple name for the additional parameter.
Also it should be at the top of the new "Network Configuration" screen.
As promised, here's my suggested help text:
"Controls whether or not the existing Network Configuration
settings on the phone are overwritten with the values below. If
unchecked then these settings will not be applied to the phone.
Otherwise all of these settings on the phone will be updated with the
values below."
