The objective is to allow identification of the phone that initiates a
particular session; adding the recipient information may be useful in
associating any trends - particularly if there is some irregularity
happening.

Suggestion looks appropriate to me.

Subject: [sipX-dev] XX-4747: Enhance CDR to identify specific calling
phones

I'm working on issue XX-4747 which proposes an enhancement to the CDR
record that would more accurately identify not only which user initiated
a call but from which device/ip address that the call came from by using
the Contact Header and User-Agent information.

I'd like to modify/extend this proposal a little in the following
manner:

1. Record the contact header not only for the originator but also for
the recipient of the call as the Contact header field is mandatory on
the INVITE and on the 200 OK. Implementing this would involve 2 new
fields in the Call State Event records and in the Call Detail Records.

2. Not record any User-Agent info at all since the field is optional
for any command and from what I can see doesn't really contain much
useful information.

Any objections/commnets?

Raymond
