I was thinking of this sort of thing when I first started implementing
alarms.  We have a similar thing in some of our other products.  It will
require some work on the Alarm Server side as well.  I see that I only
got as far as adding an xmlrpc i/f to getAlarmCount, and no way to clear
it or get counts for each priority level (this is marked as a TODO).  I
think making a little div on each page which would display the count in
colour coding or as a little graph, and auto-refresh every minute or so,
would be a nice feature.
