I am not sure if I understand: it does not matter how the data is updated. Once it's in sipXconfig it's used for everything that sipXconfig manages. I am not sure how user can update its data through IM, but if someone were to add such capability, then sipXconfig would have to treat such data in the same way as it treats data entered through UI.
