All,

I think the addition of this feature in SipXecs would be welcomed by many users
of the solution. The Hotelling feature has been talked about a number of times
on the list and is pencilled in for v5.0, which is probably still some time
away.

Having looked through the issues on JIRA I wanted to suggest a way of
delivering a part 1 solution which may be an easier deliverable (!).

Rather than a full blown SipXecs server based solution, could this be
implemented as an IVR solution for phase 1? Here is a quick brief on how it
would work:

1) All phones configured with base number range with minimal permissions
(internal and emergency)

2) user who wants to use the phone then logs on by:

a) pick up handset and call IVR (e.g. 123)

b) enter userID

c) enter PIN

d) IVR looks up ID and determines the users 'real' line and sets up a dynamic
call forward to the temporary location (picked up from CLI)

e) IVR reads out "Calls for extension 3456 will be forwarded to 5001"

f) the dynamic call forward could 'timeout' after X number of hours

Alternatively, the user could enter an extension to forward calls onto. This
way the phone could be a cell phone or an extension on another PBX, making the
solution more flexible.

So, do you think this functionality could be built with the SipXecs inbuilt
IVR, and how much effort do you think it would take? Can the application be
written in VXML?

Comments appreciated...
