It's still possible, but it's a lot harder than it used to be. We still can't prevent the loops that are created when the proxy configuration does not match the DNS routing rules (send a request to sip:u...@fqdn when fqdn is not the sip domain and not configured as an alias); those go until they run out of hops (max 20).
