+1

I never use it... too slow and too unreliable.

> Subject: [sipX-dev] Removal of Device Discovery
>
> Folks,
>
> Due to the addition of the auto phone provisioning service we are
going
> to remove the old device discovery feature. See:
>
> The main reasons are:
> 1. The discovery didn't reliably work and could cause issues in large
> subnets. We actually had system stability issues seen with this due to
> impatient people clicking on discover multiple times on a class b
> subnet.
> 2. The discovery didn't' work across subnets.
> 3. The phone provisioning service will make phones "appear" in the
> phone
> table automatically.
>
> The one down side is that non-Polycom or Avaya/Nortel 1200 won't show
> up
> automatically as those phones don't support the auto provisioning
> added.
> We can work with community folks if they want to try and add other
> phones for the provisioning service.
>
> This doesn't affect any phone plug-ins and/only affects the device
> discovery feature. If you can think why this isn't a good idea feel
> free
> to speak up..
>
> Regards,
>
