I've noticed that too (in main).
This IMO needs immediate attention. Replication takes quite some time,
replicating twice will double the time, which is unacceptable.

PS: I'm currently working on changing a bit the replication mechanism,
and I can say that I haven't noticed this anymore on my dev branch. I'll
keep investigating. (in any case we need to get to the source of the
problem)
