Right now, F14 thru F16 are all good options for development machines. One major advantage to F14 is you can build and install sipxecs 4.4 and sipxecs 4.6 from source (i.e. not rpms) simply because its the one supported Fedora version that overlaps in each sipxecs version.
Note however, If you have F15 or higher and need to build sipxecs 4.4 rpms, you can still easily do that. For example make distro.fedora-14-x86_64.sipx.rpm Will build the Fedora 14 rpms when you're on the sipxecs 4.4 code branch and on any Fedora or CentOS platform. For that matter, you can build CentOS rpms on any of the Fedora's. For example, in sipxecs 4.4 code branch, you can run: make distro.centos-5.i386.sipXconfig.rpm How is this possible? All thru the magic of embedded mock utility. http://wiki.sipfoundry.org/display/sipXecs/Building+RPMS+on+CentOS+or+Fedora which installs a mini distribution right inside your machine. TIP: If it were me and I had F14 already installed, I'd stay there. If you're upgrading from F12 I'd go to F14. If you're installing fresh, install F16. Confusing? Well, may be, but it's only just because you have a lot of options. _______________________________________________ sipx-dev mailing list [email protected] List Archive: http://list.sipfoundry.org/archive/sipx-dev/
