On our development "staging" server of SipXecs we have run into "Too many open files" issues. We have bumped up the limit on Linux so there is no problem there, but when we checked "lsof" we happened to see numbers where "postmaster" would have around 5800+ open files. The next closest was httpd 2500+ and java 1300+.
I just wanted to check if this was expected or if it was really out of the realm of what everyone normally observes and might indicate a problem (possibly even with something we might be saving in PostgreSQL). I have seen it go back down to as low as 3900 or so open files so it does not seem to be a runaway. I just wanted to double-check it. Thanks! D Chang
