just wanted to update everyone on this... audiocodes has fixed the via branch id truncation issue in their latest firmware release: 5.20A.042.003. apparently this release increases the character limit to 100. i am still not sure why they are hardcoding arbitrary limits, but whatever.
so: if you are planning on using 3.10 with the mediants, you need to upgrade to at least 5.20A.042.003. if you are using 3.10 with an earlier release, i am curious to know how things are going and which release it is. milosz -----Original Message----- From: Scott Lawrence [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, May 08, 2008 6:05 AM To: Meller, Milosz Cc: [email protected] Subject: RE: [sipx-users] problems with 3.10 refer-to andcontactmessagesand mediant 1000 On Thu, 2008-05-08 at 00:58 -0400, Meller, Milosz wrote: > audiocodes has not really gotten back to me with a satisfying answer > yet, but i'm wondering if i can do anything at all to shorten my > branch id's. i just looked at the branch id's from my sipx 3.8.1 box > and they're a lot shorter. it just looks like there's a hard limit on > the audiocodes box that's trimming those branch id's to 49 characters. > > this is a 3.8.1 branch id: z9hG4bK-b6ae5301236361f4ee1dabaae0301d8f > (40 > chars) > this is a 3.10.1 branch id: > z9hG4bK-sipXecs-0e24a29cd6306f101b01269fa54481cadee9 (52 chars) And a call that has forked will be another 33 characters longer, I'm afraid. This is part of a fix that implements loop detection in the sipXproxy. Limiting Via headers to only 49 characters (if that's what they're doing) is just a bug - there are many implementations that wouldn't work with. We use Audiocodes gateways a lot without hitting this problem, so there must be some difference... -- Scott Lawrence tel:+1.781.229.0533;ext=162 or sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED] sipXecs project coordinator - SIPfoundry http://www.sipfoundry.org/sipXecs CTO, Voice Solutions - Bluesocket Inc. http://www.bluesocket.com/ http://www.pingtel.com/ _______________________________________________ sipx-users mailing list [email protected] List Archive: http://list.sipfoundry.org/archive/sipx-users Unsubscribe: http://list.sipfoundry.org/mailman/listinfo/sipx-users
