Here are all the details, maybe a solution is possible...
I have a SIP/TDM gateway, and want to provide VM for TDM subs. The GW supports
SIP VM trunk groups. What we've done with similar SIP servers in the past is
create statically defined users/endpoints in the sip server for the TDM sub.
Then a call destined to the TDM sub is forwarded to the VM pilot number on
sipX. It will see the redirect header and decide that the call is a VM deposit.
After the message is recorded, sipx would send NOTIFY for VMWI to the GW, which
the GW receives and lights the phone's lamp, or gives the line stutter dial
tone.
Perhaps you can see from this description how making the TDM GW look like a
giant phone will make all the VM magic work. The GW limitation is that it can't
register the users with sipx.

I thought about that also… Create a phantom user, put a
forward on that user to [EMAIL PROTECTED] but I wasn’t sure if that would work
or not either.
I started typing that as a possible solution but discarded it.

Mike,
He wants sipx to send the calls to the phone, but the
phone he has can't register.
He could create the user then create a sip forwarding
order for the user to the phone by address, except:
I'm not sure it would work, I'm sure the calls would
come in, but I'm not sure how useful the phone would be that would get the
calls and not know how to display them since there would be no way to specify
which line it was.
I agree phones must register.

Phones must register…
Yes, a phone should be able to register any number of
lines. The managed phones are limited to however many they support.
For an unmanaged phone that would let you register 20 lines, simply create 20
users and put their login info into the phone.

for SIP phone;number of lines
I'm a new user of sipXecs. Here are a few questions, that I couldn't find on
the wiki or mail list:
- I want to add a user that uses an unmanaged phone, that has a static IP and
does not support registration. How can I do this?
- Can I add a phone that supports a greater number of lines, for instance 16
lines?
I am only familiar with the web interface... if anything suggests another way,
please point me in the right direction for details!
Thanks!
