Most SIP phones have an item on the "phone" menu that lets you see the present IP address of the phone. Of course, this is of little use in normal operation, but very helpful when doing messy debugging. E.g., on the LG/Nortel 6830 phone, push the Info button. On the Polycom 601, push "Menu", then "221".
