I am not 100% sure but user e-mail address for now is used only for voicemail related features and a lot of voicemail functionality is implemented by writing media server configuration files directly. So it is possible that e-mail address is not stored in sipXconfig at all: instead it might be only somewhere in user configuration files in media server. This is clearly not a good model but I am hoping that legacy sipx media server will be replaced by the one based on freeswitch post 4.0 and we can have a better configuration (and more featiures) then.
