In the case of internal phones calling other internal phones or gateways, the SipXecs server only handles the signalling, all audio data is sent directly from one phone/gateway to another. This means that SipXecs can handle a very very large number of calls indeed. If a phone/gateway is using a media service such as an auto attendant, voicemail, etc. then the audio is routed to the SipXecs server, so the number of these types of calls it can handle will depend on the spec of the machine. SipXecs is easily scalable, so if you need to handle more media service type calls than any one machine could handle, you just an a secondary SipXecs server, register it with the primary server, and run a secondary mediaserver on it. All the configuration for this is done through the web interface.
