We usually refer to this as a “Hoteling” or “Hotdesk” feature. This is not available in the system. The user can however log in to the user self-service portal and forward their extension to any phone they would like… cell phone, home phone, other extension on the system.
Another option would be a softphone on their laptop, then it is always with them. Can you point me in the right direction to any information on this feature if so. I did spend time on http://www.sipfoundry.org/ff.html and http://sipx-wiki.calivia.com/index.php/The_sipXecs_IP_PBX_Feature_List and could not find what I was looking for. What I mean by 'log in' is to have a phone available where a mobile user can enter their user code, and the phone attaches to the PBX with the configuration settings for that user (User name, extension, voicemail access, etc). Thanks in advance,
