Yes, they seem a bit funny. Sometimes they will pick up on the change other times they need to be rebooted.

LG-Nortel 68xx do use SRV records. If changing the domain isn't taking proper effect, make sure that the phones have rebooted and they've managed to get and load the new configuration file.
